Recently I had my first professional brand photos taken! It was a 1.5 hour long photoshoot, and let me tell you, the time FLEW by. Preparing well in advance for the photos we wanted to take and the vibe we wanted to convey was key to achieving cohesive brand photos. It’s a big investment, so you want to make sure you’re prepared and collected going into the experience in order to get the results you’re looking for. Here are three key pieces of prep advice I’d give to anyone planning their first brand photoshoot:

1. Plan out distinctive vignettes for your shoot
   In my case, we wanted to show me working, celebrating, and planning. This translated to shots of me typing at my computer, pouring/holding champagne, and pinning things on a pin board. Think about three or four key areas of your work life, and creative ways to display those visually.
   
2. Get your hair and makeup professionally done
   I’m a tomboy through and through, and seriously considered just doing mine myself, but I’m SO glad I invested in professional help. They knew what would look good on camera and how much product to apply to achieve the look you want.
   
3. Plan out 3-4 outfits well in advance and try them on
   Not only try them on, but have someone take pictures of you wearing them to make sure they translate on camera the way they do in your head! Don’t forget to think about accessories, too.
