You’ve probably heard the term ‘conversion rate’ thrown around left and right online. If you’re like me, you just sort of…ignored it for as long as you could. Then I started my own creative small business and had to know if the stuff I was doing online was actually, well, working.
So what exactly does this term mean?
A conversion is when someone takes the action that you want them to take.
A conversion rate is the number of conversions divided by the number of visitors.
So if 20 people read this post and 5 of them click the link in the footer, my conversion rate is 25 percent. Easy enough, right?
It’s important to know your conversion rate for various things like the emails you send and the website pages you write, because that’s one of the main ways to know what’s working and what’s not. A simple Google search will tell you average conversion rates for various things for reference.
