Guess what? I’m pregnant! Woo!
Yep, my husband will soon have to compete with a little one for the title of Blossom Copy’s #1 fan. In case you’re wondering, we were actively trying for a baby, so that positive pregnancy test was nothing but great news!
I’m due at the end of October, so we’ve got some time to prepare our hearts, our home, and my business for this giant change. I’ve been reading up on how to plan a maternity leave when you’re self-employed without a team, but as of now I’m still trying to figure out what this will look like for me. Here is a helpful post on the topic from a fellow creative, if you’d like to read!
Luckily, my husband’s work offers 12 weeks paid paternity leave (because, ahem, the CEO is a woman), so he will be able to help significantly with the transition.
I’ve been feeling pretty tired most days, and during the first trimester I HAD to take a nap every day at 2pm, no exceptions. It was like my body simply wouldn’t let me continue on until I slept. Now that I’m in my second trimester, I’ve been feeling a bit better and more energetic. I think giving myself grace has been key, and trusting that I’ll be able to get everything done that needs to get done has proven to be helpful and true. Spinning your wheels and staying exhausted helps no one, amen?
Looking ahead, I’ll try to share updates as I can and give you some insight into my maternity leave as a solopreneur in case that’s helpful for you or someone in your life.
Cheers to new chapters!
